Wine on Wednesday: Zoey’s Favorite

Today is the second installment in my Wine on Wednesday series, where I ask the characters from Blood Vine to introduce themselves and tell you about their favorite wines to ramp up for the Jan 8 release. Last week we met our hero Andre Maras.  Today it’s our heroine Zoey Porter’s turn.

Hi Zoey, thanks for answering a few questions for me.  How old are you? I’m about to turn thirty-one.

Where were you born? Ojai, CA.

What are your hobbies?  Does P.R. count?  Because, otherwise, I have no hobbies.  Seriously.  I work all the time.  Okay, I do have a secret addiction to online poker, but that’s it, and I wouldn’t really call it a hobby.

What is your favorite wine? My colleague Lucas Bennett always says my palate is unrefined, but I do like a glass of red wine at the end of the day.  I like red, and I’m not picky.  I buy what’s on sale at the corner store, even if it has a screw cap.

Lucas is an official wine snob, but he can be a sweetheart, too.  When I told him I like this inexpensive wine called Apothic Red, he bought me an entire case from Whole Foods.  It’s perfect for the nights I sleep at home and want to unwind.  Unlike Lucas, his brother Ethan insists I drink his top-shelf bourbon or hundred dollar bottles of wine, even though I could care less.  But when I sleep at Ethan’s, it doesn’t matter much what I drink—I don’t need help relaxing.

About amber.belldene

Amber Belldene grew up on the Florida panhandle, swimming with alligators, climbing oak trees and diving for scallops…when she could pull herself away from a book. As a child, she hid her Nancy Drew novels inside the church bulletin and read mysteries during sermons—an irony that is not lost on her when she preaches these days. Amber is an Episcopal Priest and student of religion. She believes stories are the best way to explore human truths. Some people think it is strange for a minister to write romance, but it is perfectly natural to her, because the human desire for love is at the heart of every romance novel and God made people with that desire. She lives with her husband and two children in San Francisco

Wine on Wednesday: Zoey’s Favorite — 2 Comments

  1. Amber – thanks for hosting these interviews with BLOODVINE”S cast. I was hoping to get to ask Zoey a question.

    Hi Zoey,

Nice to meet you. I’ll have to check out the Apothic Red on your recommendation.

Tell us all what you like the best about Andre and Kos?

  2. Hi Paula, Zoey is laughing (and kind of creeped out) to remember this interview, which we did way back before she ever met Andre and Kos, and still worked at Bennett PR. She says that what she loves about Kos is his honor–he’s always chivalrous and good. The reasons she fell for Andre are hard to spell out in a blog comment, she says. But, she’ll admit one thing she loves about him is that he proved his courage by the fact he couldn’t help but fall for her. She’s rather competitive and couldn’t let him outdo her on the courage front.
